ECO works to promote sustainable livelihoods and alleviate poverty, in tropical, subtropical, and temperate areas, by offering specialized and integrated services.

Without management of natural resources – vegetation, water, soil and others – there will be no sustainable development, and no successful poverty reduction. Since public policies on natural resources and people's related utilization patterns are complex and interwoven with other sectoral policies, there is usually no 'quick-fix' solution. Addressing the root of the problem rather than the symptoms means to mutually integrate ecological, socio-cultural, and economic concerns and potentials. Communication is a key linking factor. In supporting the sustainable management of natural resources, the ECO Consulting Group assumes a holistic perspective.

Building on extensive expertise in good governance and capacity building, ECO helps design and implement national rural development and poverty reduction strategies and assists in mutilateral environmental policy development. Supportive activities relate to education, tourism and media.
