Welcome to the ECO Consulting Group
FUTURE IS OUR DAILY BUSINESS
For over 20 years, ECO has been among Germany's leading international consultants for socio-ecological programme advice in official development assistance. Clients such as governments, NGOs and community-based organizations call on us in their efforts to promote sustainable livelihoods and combat poverty. To them, we offer specialized and integrated services. In every one of our projects ECO's rationale is to look out for economically viable solutions while protecting the natural environment. We enhance local opportunities and thereby work towards a contribution to global challenges, such as climate change.

Value chain analyses in the MENA region
POTENTIALS OF NTFP IN ALGERIA

Like other countries of the Maghreb Algeria tries to develop the economic potentials of NTFP through optimizing their related value chains. In June, ECO Consult assisted the Algerian Directorate General of Forests in analysing the value chains of charcoal, cork, honey and Pistachier Lentiscus products. The mission was part of the project „Adapatation of forest political framework conditions to climate change in the MENA region“ by German GIZ.

New project in support of CCD
ECO to outscale its madagascar approach for sustainable woodfuel supply

ECO Consult is exploring ways to extend its approach of optimising wood energy value chains as practised in Madagascar, to other regions. The approach, which includes pacemaking innovative concepts such as village-based individual afforestation (reboisement villageois individuel), will be tested for adaptation and inclusion into policies in Ethiopia, Burundi, Côte d'Ivoire and Togo. It provides for a national reserve of 'energy forests', their sustainable management, and a decentral reliable provision of household energy. ECO was entrusted with the task by a Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit sector project that supports implementation of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification.
